When you calculate horizontal, vertical and combined angles for bulk water pipelines with Devotech iDAS in Civil 3D, you might encounter situations where the combined angle is smaller than the horizontal angle. The video below explains why this can happen.
Devotech iDAS calculates the combined angle by creating a vector from each pipe and then calculates the angle between two vectors. If you want to double-check the results, you can calculate the vector from each pipe and use online tools to calculate the angle between the two vectors.
